Highly sought after as one of the most popular US honey varietals - try our raw sourwood honey from North Carolina. All natural, unfiltered, and 100% pure. Available in a variety of sizes and containers, ranging from a 12 oz plastic bear to a bulk 5 gallon pail option.

Varietal (Type of Honey)

Despite its name, sourwood honey does not have a sour taste. It's origin is the nectar from the sourwood or sorrel tree (Oxydendrum arboreum). This tree prefers acidic soil, which can give its leaves a sharp odor.

Sourwood trees are common in the Appalachian region of the southeastern US, which is where you'll typically stumble upon this honey varietal.

Sourwood honey is highly sought after in the US due to its taste, which has commonly been described as buttery, rich, and full with hints of caramel and spice. It occasionally will offer a bit of a tangy aftertaste, as well.

Always Unprocessed

At Neighborhood Hive, we sell only raw and unfiltered honey, and our raw sourwood honey is no different. Unlike most of the highly-processed honey you'll find in your local grocery store, our products are never pasteurized and have only had wax and other large particles removed before bottling. This ensures all the nutrients found naturally in raw honey, including vitamins, minerals, pollen, enzymes, and antioxidants are in tact when our products arrive at your door.

Locally Sourced

At Neighborhood Hive we believe it's important to understand the source of your honey to ensure it's 100% pure. By partnering directly with beekeepers and apiaries (honey farms) across the US, we're able to connect customers to a wide variety of 100% pure, high quality, raw and unfiltered honey from diverse regions across the country.

Accordingly, this raw sourwood honey is harvested from the Hendersonville, NC area. Orders are typically shipped within 2 business days from receipt. We hope you enjoy your honey!
