Varietal (Type of Honey)

Saw palmetto honey is a monofloral honey, meaning the bees producing it primarily visit one type of plant, in this case - the saw palmetto or Serenoa repens. Since this plant is typically found along the southeastern US coastline, it's unusual to find this honey varietal produced outside of Florida.

Berries of the saw palmetto plant are used in treatments for both prostate issues and hair loss, causing many to believe that saw palmetto honey possesses medicinal benefits beyond those typical of raw honey.

Supporting that idea is the dark amber color of our raw saw palmetto honey. This color puts it among a grouping of darker colored honeys, which have been linked with higher antioxidant activity.

Always Unprocessed

At Neighborhood Hive, we sell only raw and unfiltered honey, and our saw palmetto honey is no different. Unlike most of the highly-processed honey you'll find in your local grocery store, our products are never pasteurized and have only had wax and other large particles removed before bottling. This ensures all the good stuff found naturally in raw honey, like vitamins, minerals, pollen, enzymes, and antioxidants are in tact when our products reach your door. It's the real deal - straight from the hive.

Locally Sourced

By shopping with Neighborhood Hive, you’re supporting the sustainable beekeeping operation of local beekeepers and apiaries (honey farms) across the US. Our partnership model enables us to connect customers to a wide variety of high quality, raw and unfiltered honey from diverse regions across the US.

This saw palmetto honey is collected from bees who spend their time in the forests of Volusia County - near the central Florida cities of Orlando and Daytona Beach. Orders ship directly from the beekeeper, typically within 2 business days of receipt.

*Raw honey should not be ingested by infants under the age of 1*
