Wildflower or polyfloral honey, gets its name because the bees producing it extract nectar from more than one nectar source, typically within just a few miles of their hive. Unlike honey from single plant sources (monofloral honey), the unique tastes of wildflower honey differ from region to region, and can potentially change throughout the year. Wildflower honey has been described as a bit bolder than your typical monofloral honey, and will generally present a more complex flavor profile. Wildflower honey is extremely versatile, a delicious ingredient in fruit or vegetable dressings, baked goods, and of course is a table staple.
Crystal’s Honeys is a family honeybee farm operated by third generation beekeepers. We produce, extract and jar our honeys at our farms in Billerica, Mass. and Otto NY. Most of the honey produced at Crystal’s is local by floral source to New England and the Northeast. Our goal is to provide people with honey true to the floral sources considered local to the market areas served without blending to achieve a price point. At Crystal’s we urge you to buy local honey from beekeepers wherever you find it.
By shopping with Neighborhood Hive, you’re supporting the beekeeping operation of local beekeepers and Honey Farms across the US.
The beekeeper responsible for this wildflower honey: Crystal’s Honeys, is part of Merrimack Valley Apiaries Inc. (MVA), a family owned honeybee farm started in Billerica Mass. It all started in 1958 when the family purchased their first package of bees from Sears and Roebuck.
